In commemoration of the 600th day of the blog's launch

Unknowingly, the blog has been running for 600 days. Looking back, it has been quite rewarding. I am writing this article to commemorate the past 600 days and to briefly discuss the journey and insights of building a blog.

Although the post was published on the 601st day.

Origin#

If we take the launch of the relevant blog framework as the starting point, I first built a website and "started blogging" in June 2022. At that time, a friend asked me if I wanted a server. Although I didn't know what a server was useful for, I thought I might as well take it since it was free. After receiving the login credentials, I familiarized myself with the server environment and thought about what I could do.

I searched online and found that many people said it could be used to build a personal blog website, so I looked for tutorials and thus got to know my first blog framework—WordPress.

After some tinkering, my first website officially went online—xiaohan.xfcloud.org (it's no longer in use now, but it can still be accessed). However, if you ask me whether I wrote any meaningful articles back then, the answer would probably be zero. Most of what I wrote was either petty complaints or things I couldn't even describe, as I knew nothing at that time and didn't know what to write (I couldn't possibly just copy my exam essays, right?).

Later, I checked the Wayback Machine and found records only for 2023 and 2024; there are none from the WordPress period qaq.

Getting on Track#

Later, because I rarely managed that site, I shut it down. Before shutting it down, I copied the SQL data to my local machine, but since that old computer broke down later, it was no different from not having a backup.

It wasn't until March 2023 that I came across Hexo. At that time, it was the early stage of the AI craze. I used Hexo with a modified Butterfly theme as a sharing template site, which helped me accumulate a bit of popularity.

In July, I thought about creating a proper blog website, still using Hexo, but this time I included all the necessary configurations for a blog and made some modifications (at least I was quite satisfied with it).

During this period, I also met quite a few like-minded individuals, exchanged friendly links, and it was quite interesting.

I gradually wrote some articles, met more people, and learned a lot.

Until June of this year, after iterating through three versions of Hexo and changing themes twice, I ultimately chose to migrate to Mix-Space (dynamic blogs are indeed better).

A Few Insights#

If I were to say what I learned, perhaps the most significant would be related to programming. I went from knowing nothing about the front-end trio to having some understanding now? I also got to know front-end frameworks like React and Vue.

Secondly, it has somewhat healed my already poor social relationships, although it hasn't improved that much.

In summary, it has been a worthwhile journey.
